So, I’m gonna be completely honest here & say I’m kind of obsessed with anything cold. It's kind of ironic considering I get cold a lot easier than is probably normal, but no matter what temperature it is outside, I will never say no to a popsicle or a smoothie... Even if I’m shaking more than a chihuahua.
A couple years ago, I had been in love with a drink at Jamba Juice. I haven't been there in so long I don't even remember what it was called, but I do know the name had something to do with oranges & that I was in love with it. That love didn't last though, because, soon enough, there was a whole fiasco about how the drinks at Jamba Juice aren't as healthy as they were made out to be. I personally can't say I'm surprised considering everything becomes "unhealthy" for you at least once during it's existence (i.e. washing your hair everyday), but the combination of the sugar outbreak & the price was enough to make my mom not want to take us back. In all honesty, I didn't understand it at the time. I didn't care how much sugar it had, I just really enjoyed the drink. But, looking back on it now, I'm glad we never went back.
After a while of not being able to have my beloved drink, I decided if I wasn't going to be able to buy it, then I was going to learn how to make it. I can't even tell you how much time I spent searching for recipes online, but they were all way too complicated. Eventually, I realized I was going to have to make something up. Which is exactly what I did. Using ingredients I already had, I popped them into the blender and was pleased to find that the drink tasted a lot like the original, and, it was a lot healthier, with only 2 ingredients. Less is definitely more when it comes to things like this. I also learned that it comes out differently depending on the orange juice you use. I came to find that the Simply Orange brand was missing sugar, but the Great Value orange juice (I use the version with pulp & NOT from concentrate) from Wal-Mart had the perfect amount of sweetness. Of course, it all depends on your preference when it comes to the amount of sweetness that makes the drink perfect for you, but I highly recommend you experiment. It's definitely worth it.
